Longtime Delta County resident Kennadine J. Duncan died Feb. 5, 2017, at Colorow Care Center in Olathe. She was 83.
A memorial service was held Friday, Feb. 10, at Presbyterian Church of Delta. Entombment followed at Mesa View Cemetery in Delta.
Mrs. Duncan was born in Delta Aug. 26, 1933, to Charles and Elnora LaVeta (Jennings) Oliver. She spent her childhood in Delta and Montrose and graduated from Montrose High School in 1951.
Shortly after graduating, she married Carl Duncan. He was with the Navy, which gave them the opportunity to live in Texas, Japan, Hawaii, California and Colorado. The 30-year marriage ended in divorce; however, they were close until his death in 1998.
Mrs. Duncan was a longtime member of the Presbyterian Church of Delta, serving as secretary for many years. When her health deteriorated, she moved to her daughter's home in Montrose and joined the Hillcrest Congregational United Church of Christ.
In her earlier years, she was a member of the National Thespian Society and performed in many small theaters in California and Colorado. Later, she joined the Emblem Club and served as state president. She enjoyed bowling, crocheting, jewelry making and her dog, Duchess.
She is survived by her children, John (Pam) Duncan of Arvada, Wayne Duncan of Fairplay, LaVeta (Steve) England of Montrose and Kenneth (René) Duncan of Colorado Springs; one brother, Charles "Skip" (Sharon) Oliver of Elizabeth; two sisters, Regina Barr and Mary Jo (Bill) Chaffee, all of Delta; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Charlie Duncan; one sister, Wilma Harris; and the father of her children, Carl Duncan.
