Kevin Eugene O'Dell of Delta died Aug. 14, 2017. He was 62.

A celebration of life was held Saturday, Aug. 19, at Delta First Baptist Church.

He was born June 9, 1955, to Marvin and Margaret (Higgs) O'Dell in Independence, Mo. He attended Blue Springs North High School in Blue Springs, Mo. He received his GED and enlisted in the military from 1972-74. He was stationed at Camp Pendleton. He was honorably discharged as a PFC from the Marine Corps.

On July 20, 1991, he married Leatha Burch in Lee's Summit, Mo.

Mr. O'Dell was a devoted member of Delta First Baptist Church where he was involved in the men's Bible study, the 50 and older SAMs Club ministry, AWANA and youth ministry. He was also involved in Tres Dias and Celebrate Recovery. In 2009, with his son Cody and other men from the church, he delivered and donated coats and blankets to an Indian reservation in New Mexico.

He enjoyed puzzles, collecting coins, fishing, hunting, playing with Legos, helping children, doing donuts in his wheelchair, reading his Bible and riding around in his son's truck.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Leatha O'Dell; his mother, Margaret Nedwed; three sons, Jeremy O'Dell, Nicholaus O'Dell and Cody Bench; three daughters, Mandy O'Dell, Misty O'Dell and Natalie O'Dell; a brother, Eric O'Dell; a sister, DeeDra O'Dell; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and extended family.

Mr. O'Dell was preceded in death by his father, Marvin O'Dell; his stepfather, Richard Nedwed; and two sisters, Peggy Sherrill and Vicky Creekmore.
