Animal control duties defined

The Cedaredge trustees, acting on Oct. 20, approved an operations agreement with Friends of Cedaredge Animal Control (FCAC). Among procedures in the agreement are ones dealing with how animals will be dealt with in various situations by the town animal control officer.

CAWS seeks funding for spay/neuter work

The animal welfare group CAWS is seeking the county's help with a feral cat and dog spay/neuter project.

At the county commissioners' Sept. 6 meeting (held on Tuesday because of the Monday Labor Day holiday) CAWS representatives John Martindale, Rand Kokernot, Jacque Koehler and Christel Pretorius explained their plans for funding a "kick-off spay and neuter clinic" project.

'M&M Boys' to benefit shelter fund

One of the valley's favorite music groups, one that has also entertained audiences throughout the county and elsewhere, The Metamoocil Mountain Boys, is scheduling a benefit concert on March 5 with proceeds going to the Friends of Cedaredge Animal Control building fund.

The group comprised of George Gertz, Paul Frazier and Larry Claxton has not played together since disbanding three years ago, Claxton told the DCI.

Veterinarians' efforts benefit work of FCAC

Friends of Cedaredge Animal Control last week received donations of pet food and cash that came from local pet lovers who participated in two events sponsored by the Surface Creek Veterinary Center.

Veterinarians Jeff and Susie Hirsch sponsored a pet food drive at their clinic and encouraged clients to donate items to the effort.
