Most people who attend the Colorado BMW Club of Colorado's Top O' the Rockies have a great time, then turn around and go home or head to another rally when it's over. Many return to the rally year after year, and a few return just to visit.
With participation numbers at rallies across the nation declining in recent years, organizers were very happy when almost 560 riders registered at last week's annual BMW Motorcycle Club of Colorado Top O' the Rockies Rally. That's a few more than last year, and a healthy number, say organizers.
The BMW Motorcycle Club of Colorado's 46th annual Top O' the Rockies rally officially kicks off Thursday, July 20, at Paonia Town Park. The event features live music, social events, food vendors, activities, games and special presentations.
For the 28th year the BMW Motorcycle Club of Colorado will hold its annual Top O' the Rockies Rally in Paonia. While the official rally runs July 20-23, cyclists will begin arriving a little early, said Paonia event coordinator Bob Bushta.
The roughly 550 riders in Paonia last week for the BMW rally have been to many rallies, but the general consensus it that the BMW Motor Cycle Club of Colorado's Top O' the Rockies Rally in Paonia is second to none.
"This relationship that we have with the town is very different," said club president Michael Kilgore.
Upwards of 600-800 motorcycles will descend upon North Fork area and Paonia Town Park this week for the BMW Motorcycle Club's annual Top O' the Rockies Rally.
This is the 27th year that Paonia has hosted the rally.
