Cedaredge audit report is mostly positive

Another poor financial showing for the Cedaredge Golf Course cast a shadow over an otherwise positive financial audit report for the Town of Cedaredge's 2016 operations.

For example, the practice of "conservative budgeting" (i.e. estimating expenses at the high end of a range and for income at the low end) helped produce results wherein the town "actually did a lot better than anticipated," according to the report presented to trustees by auditor Pete Blair.

Golf course continues to need subsidies, write-offs

Money from the Cedaredge water fund, general fund and sewer fund were used to subsidize golf in 2016 providing an amount equal to 30 percent of total golf course funding for the year.

An audit report presented to Cedaredge trustees last week confirmed that in 2016 the Cedaredge Golf Course received large cash subsidies for operations and equipment, primarily from the water fund.

Trustees consider writing off golf loans

A proposal for directly subsidizing the Cedaredge Golf Course with as much as $145,380 from taxpayers and from sewer and water ratepayers is under consideration by the town board as it begins its budget talks.

Under the proposal, trustees would transfer $15,000 in cash from both the sewer and water funds to the golf course.

The 19th annual Alpine Bank/Partners Golf Classic to benefit the children served by Partners of Delta, Montrose and Ouray will be held on Saturday, July 16, at the Cedaredge Golf Club.

Cedaredge Rotary Club golf tourney a success

The Cedaredge Rotary Club held its annual golf tournament Saturday, June 18, at the Cedaredge Golf Club.

In an effort to create something new, unique and fun, this year's 18-hole event was made into a par three golf course where every hole began from the 150-yard mark.

Cedaredge considers restaurant lease proposal

A letter drafting proposals for operation of Cedaredge's golf course restaurant calls for more public spending, support, and a "partnership" arrangement for the town's restaurant business going forward.

A prospective husband-and-wife management team from Colorado Springs with some 20 years in the restaurant business has expressed interest in a lease-management deal with the town to operate the restaurant for three years.

Golf course eatery deal is discussed

Some details about a prospective lessee and an offer that has been made to take over management of the Cedaredge golf course restaurant were part of discussions at a trustee work session on April 14.

According to statements made by trustees and town staff during a discussion at the work session, the town has received a proposal for lease/management of the restaurant from a Colorado Springs couple.

Town wants professional help to find restaurateur

The Cedaredge Town Board, during its regular meeting on Jan. 21, gave the go-ahead for staff to work out an agreement with an experienced local listing agent to find someone to operate the golf course restaurant.

One problem that was discussed in marketing the business and finding a qualified operator will be that management has changed hands several times in the past decade.
