On Sunday, Dec. 10, members of Lee Marts Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 3571 of Delta and Montrose VFW Post 784 met three incoming aircraft on the ramp of Atlantic Aviation in Montrose. The three planes were part of the joint Holiday Airlift sponsored by Colorado Aviation Business Association (CABA) and the VFW, airlifting thousands of pounds of food and toys throughout the state to help brighten the holidays of many veterans and their families.

In the Town of Paonia's annual judging of Christmas lights displays, a cute little sports car caught the eyes of judges Katya Schwieterman and Liane Mattson. Schwieterman and Mattson are daughter and mother and have been judging the lights for the town for 10 years. The first year they judged the contest, Katya was 4.

'Tis the season to give, and for the last eight holiday seasons the Town of Hotchkiss and the Hotchkiss Marshal's Office have demonstrated the spirit of giving by providing the gifts to the area's children and their families through the Secret Santa Program.

The Surface Creek community showed the real spirit of its Christmas holiday observance as more than 200 holiday gift dinner boxes prepared by volunteers were made available for distribution.

Vehicles lined up at the Surface Creek Community Services food bank and some 30 volunteers who had worked to assemble and package the holiday feast fixings carried the boxes filled with food and placed them into trunks, pickup beds, and back seats of the waiting vehicles.
