On Thursday, Sept. 15, the Delta County School Board held its meeting at the North Fork Montessori School at Crawford. The school board and the principals of all the public schools in the North Fork Valley used the occasion to express gratitude to the Cocker Kids Foundation for support that totaled over $1 million over the last 20 years
It would be difficult to calculate the number of North Fork area students who benefited from the Cocker Kids' Foundation. The foundation board of directors, which has given more than $1 million to youth-related programs in Delta County, has announced that the benevolent nonprofit is closing its doors (see related article below).
Founded in 1997 by Pam and Joe Cocker, the Cocker Kids' Foundation (CKF) has granted over $1 million to youth-related projects and programs in the North Fork Valley. CKF was organized following the first Mad Dog Ranch home tour in 1996, shortly after the Cockers built their new home.
Everyone was feelin' alright when the doors opened to the Cocker Kids Foundation holiday house sale last Friday morning. More than 300 people lined up early to pay $5 to get first pick of thousands of items belonging to the late Joe Cocker and his wife, Pam.
