At the Feb. 23 board meeting, Paonia trustees voted 4-1 to approve the special review application and site plan for the Circle Development Corporation's Silver Leaf Senior Cohousing Project. Trustee Eric Goold was absent, and Suzanne Watson cast the dissenting vote.
Paonia resident Paul Douglas believes that the proposed Silver Leaf Cohousing project should go back to the planning commission.
Douglas spoke during the "visitors" portion of the Jan. 26 town board meeting after sitting in on a special joint meeting between the town board and staff and planning commission members regarding the proposal.
Paonia resident Paul Millermon often wondered what would become of a vacant lot located a block from his home. Millermon, who served more than 24 years on the town planning commission, spoke at last week's public hearing for the proposed Silver Leaf Cohousing Development proposed at Third Street and Clark Avenue.
Partners for the Silver Leaf project closed last week on the 1.5-acre vacant parcel, located on the north side of Third Street between Clark and Minnesota avenues. The land is zoned R-2 and platted for 19 lots and was listed for $179,900 by Re/Max Mountain West.
