On Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016, hunters in the Sawmill Mesa area of the Uncompahgre Plateau west of Montrose reported the finding of skeletal material believed to be human remains. The Montrose County Sheriff's Office and the Montrose County Coroner's Office of Medical Investigations with the help of the Montrose County Sheriff's Posse recovered bones and fragments of clothing.
An elderly Cedaredge man was killed Thursday, Feb. 23, after a fire swept through his trailer house at 24693 Cedar Mesa Road, Cedaredge, at about 11 p.m. The Delta County Sheriff's Office has identified the deceased man as Robert Nicodemus, 89.
The Cheyenne County Sheriff's Office, Sidney Police Department and the Nebraska State Patrol are investigating two deaths in Sidney on Jan. 9.
The deceased have been identified as Rachelle Jensen, 36 and Jeffery Jensen, 39. Jeffery is a former resident of Delta.
On Monday, Feb. 6, at approximately 7:27 p.m., officers of the Delta Police Department were dispatched to a two-vehicle accident in the 1300 block of Highway 50 in North Delta. The accident scene was located in the eastbound lane with one vehicle still in the lanes of traffic and the other vehicle on the south side of the roadway.
On Saturday, Oct. 29, hunters in the Sawmill Mesa area of the Uncompahgre Plateau west of Montrose reported finding what they believed to be human remains. Montrose County Sheriff's personnel were led to the location and confirmed the remains were human.
Mike Salazar, 65, of Delta died in an auto accident on Graff Road at about 7 p.m. Oct. 8.
The Colorado State Patrol reports Salazar's 1991 Pontiac Grand Prix was traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed on Graff Road when the driver lost control and the vehicle began to rotate clockwise.
