On May 25, Garnet Mesa Elementary students were awarded for their efforts in special classes.
More than 300 million people around the world are affected by a rare disease. James Kurtz was one of them. He was diagnosed with vici syndrome in 2009, just the 48th known case in the world.
A student at Garnet Mesa Elementary School was so impressed by the carousel created by art teacher Bobbie Hutchison, she interviewed her teacher for the DCI.

At the end of the 2015-2016 school year, Mrs. Tilelli's fifth grade class led a schoolwide fundraiser at Garnet Mesa Elementary. The fifth graders willingly and generously gave their time and their own money to donate to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation.
