The estimated cost of replacing the main water line running along South Grand Mesa Drive (Hwy. 65) is going up again even before a funding plan for the work is in place.
Town staff informed trustees at their Jan. 12 work session that the project is looking like a $1.2 million to $1.3 million project now.
Orchard City trustees discussed an aberration in results of the monthly water audit report during their Dec. 14 regular meeting.
A report from the trustee water committee noted that the audit report is showing "significant water loss" and indicating "huge discrepancies." The aberrant readings are occurring below the storage tanks at the town water plant, the committee reported.
Trustees for the Town of Paonia voted unanimously to approve contracts for the Out of Town Waterline Replacements Project to Pitt Construction Company, LLC, in Hotchkiss. Pitt, one of 10 companies to bid on the project, submitted the winning bid of $701,507.38.
A Cedaredge waterline project that started as the replacement of a residential cul-de-sac line, estimated at $65,000 last year, has expanded to a major project including the main line along South Grand Mesa Drive (SH 65), estimated to cost $961,604.
The town board received updated information from town staff at its regular June 16 meeting.
