Arts Coalition of Delta County, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, has reformed with some new officers and a new direction. The organization, which has been around for several years, has the same priorities as it started with, but with a step-by-step plan.
The Arts Coalition of Delta County, known also as AC/DC has opened up a process where local Delta County residents may apply to be on the board of directors of a nonprofit organization whose goal is to organize and promote the arts in Delta County.
Richard Weldon, chairman of the board of directors, stated, "AC/DC, which will build a large auditorium and amphitheater in Delta County, has been working the past few years to get the word out about its plans and has conducted several fundraising events in the county.
Cedaredge has long been home to a wealth of talented artists, musicians and craftsmen, many of whom are featured in galleries, at community festivals or during the First Friday Art Walks hosted by the Cedaredge Area Chamber of Commerce.
Despite their proven benefits, arts offerings in primary and secondary schools across the country are trending downward. Studies conducted by the Arts Education Partnership (AEP) and others that show a strong connection between arts learning and student achievement and success.
