Paonia water, sewer services will be on Dec. 13 agenda

The Town of Paonia's proposed new water and sewer ordinances, along with resolutions for water and sewer rate increases, will be on the Dec. 13 agenda. After discovering inconsistencies in language and definitions between the current and proposed ordinances at the Nov. 22 meeting, as well as confusion as to which version of the water ordinance was the most recent, trustees voted to table all four agenda items.

The Town of Cedaredge held an official dedication of its new $4.9 million wastewater treatment plant (WWTF) on June 16.

Some 60 citizens and government officials accepted the town's invitation to attend the ribbon cutting and dedication.

Storm sewer construction notification

The City of Delta would like to inform the public that construction on the installation of a new storm sewer will begin the week of Jan. 18. Construction will take place along the alleys between Main and Palmer streets, and Main and Meeker streets from 2nd Street to 5th Street.

Change orders adding to sewer plant costs

The Cedaredge trustees approved change order work on the sewer plant project at their Nov. 19 meeting that will add some costs to be paid from the project contingency fund.

There was lengthy board discussion over a telecommunications link from the plant to a plant operator's home that would sound an alarm in the event of serious failure.

Work crews with Moltz Construction of Salida had reached the halfway mark last week building Cedaredge's new mechanical sewer treatment plant.

Project administrators and town officials say that the new mechanical plant will be completed and running online by next July.

Sewer line replacement

Two city projects have been awarded to Wells Excavation and Farming, LLC, which recently completed the stormwater improvements on 2nd and 5th.

Using a camera purchased last year, City of Delta crews found a sewer line in the alley between Leon and Hastings and from 8 to 10th streets that had begun to collapse.

Construction on the Town of Hotchkiss main sewer line rehabilitation project was slightly delayed, but is expected to begin today, according to Public Works manager Mike Owens.

Most of the line is located within the town's alleyways, although some work will affect the streets where they intersect with alleyways.

Last week they were in the process of pouring concrete that will make containment walls of the 25-foot-high treatment cells of the plant.
