Larry Earl Davis of Delta died Aug. 5, 2016.
He was born in Denver May 12, 1947, to Jack and Bonnie (Slugger) Davis. He attended school in Cedaredge and graduated from Montrose High School.
He was a paratrooper in the U.S. Army. He worked as a truck driver and for the federal government as a trapper in Craig.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, ranching and mule racing.
On Nov. 23, 2006, he married Edith on the family ranch in Craig. They retired to Delta in 2014.
He is survived by his wife, Edith; brother, Jack (Flo) Davis; sisters, Frankie Byrne and Laura Davis; son, Daniel Davis (Karen Means); daughter, Sheila Davis; grandchildren, Mathew (Summer) Davis, Lacey (Dustin) Davis, DaNell Davis and Ethan Davis; two great-grandchildren; and extended family.
A celebration of life was held at the Delta Church of Christ on Aug. 8. Interment and military honors will take place at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Grand Junction.

At about 9:50 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, officers of the Delta Police Department were dispatched to a robbery reported at Arby's, located at 107 Gunnison River Drive. An extensive search of the area was conducted and the suspect was not located.
The suspect was reported to have walked into Arby's and after a brief conversation with an employee, was able to leave the store with a small amount of cash and coins.
