LaVerne Miller died May 14, 2016, at Mantey Heights Care Center. She was 96.
Mrs. Miller was born in Red Oak, Iowa, June 4, 1919, to Effie Bryson and James Cox. She attended school in Red Oak and received her LPN training at Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
She married Charles Clark. They lived in Idaho Springs and Iowa and had seven children. They later divorced.
After moving to Glenwood Springs, she married Joe Miller. She worked in area nursing homes until retirement, when they moved to Cedaredge. Mrs. Miller moved to Grand Junction after Joe's death in 1996.
She is survived by her brothers, Marlin (Jean-ette) of Oregon and Elton of Iowa; her daughters, Shirley Cohee of North Carolina, Judith (Henry) Drake of Grand Junction and Patricia Clark of South Carolina; her sons, Richard Clark of Red Oak, Iowa, and James (Connie) Clark of Glenwood, Iowa; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Karen and Barbara.
Visitation was Tuesday, May 17, at Taylor Funeral Home in Cedaredge, followed by graveside services at Cedaredge Cemetery.
