May 2:

Deonta D. Pittman, 25, of Delta was arrested and jailed on a warrant with a $3,000 bond.

May 3:

Jessica S. Smith, 32, of Delta was issued a ticket for alleged careless driving and owner operated uninsured motor vehicle after being involved in a two-vehicle crash at 8th and Main streets. No injuries were reported or observed. Both vehicles were driven from the scene.

Buena V.M. Rincon, 51, of Delta was issued a ticket for alleged unlawful acts.

A 17-year-old female of Delta was issued a ticket for alleged careless driving after being involved in a two-vehicle crash at 108 Gunnison River Drive. No injuries were reported or observed. Both vehicles were driven from the scene.

May 5:

Kody E. Thurston, 26, of Grand Junction was arrested and jailed for alleged DUI and DUI per se.

Cruz D. Palomino, 28, of Delta was arrested and jailed on a warrant with a $300 bond.

Travis L. Haye, 28, of Eckert was issued a ticket for alleged careless driving after being involved in a two-vehicle crash in the 1100 block of Highway 92. No injuries were reported or observed on scene. One vehicle was towed from the scene.

Ruby A. Loya, 60, of Olathe was issued a ticket for alleged careless driving and Amy N. Perea, 32, of Montrose was issued a ticket for alleged careless driving after both were involved in a two-vehicle crash at W. 6th and Palmer streets. No injuries were reported or observed. Both vehicles were driven from the scene.

Mark A. Porter, 30, of Delta was issued a ticket for alleged third degree assault.

May 6:

Ethan A. Ferguson, 21, of Delta was issued a ticket for alleged failure to yield right of way at a stop sign and owner operated uninsured motor vehicle after being involved in a two-vehicle crash at E. 9th and Meeker streets. No injuries were reported or observed. One vehicle was towed from the scene.

May 7:

Nicolle L. McCollough, 27, of Delta was arrested and jailed on three warrants with a total of $3,750 in bonds.

May 8:

A 17-year-old male of Delta was arrested and jailed (at the Brown Center in Montrose) for alleged second degree motor vehicle theft.

Spencer D.L. Bachman, 27, of Delta was arrested and jailed for alleged violation of a protection order.

Citations: Nineteen tickets for traffic violations were issued this week, eight for speeding.

May 2:

An Orchard City resident reported an intruder kicked in the back door of his home on Austin Road while he was away. A list of stolen items includes fishing equipment, a small Coleman generator, an engagement ring and eight silver coins. The incident is under investigation.

A Hotchkiss man reported that someone was taking out credit cards using the name of his 5-year-old son in an apparent case of identity theft.

Three break-ins in the last three weeks prompted a home builder on 2150 Road to install video cameras. Video footage shows individuals arriving in a white truck, with a white camper shell, and entering the house on 2150 Road. A white folding table and a two-gigabyte memory card were reported missing from the house. Investigators are following up on the video.

May 3:

A possible structure fire was reported on 3100 Road, Hotchkiss, at about 4:30 p.m. Deputies determined the fire was actually a controlled burn that was not endangering any private property. The homeowner was issued a warning for failing to call the county burn line.

An Austin resident reported an aggressive dog charged her as she was walking her baby in a stroller.

May 4:

A one-car accident occurred on Cory Grade at about 10:30 p.m. The vehicle was driven by Jesus Muñoz, 18, of Austin. He was not injured. The Colorado State Patrol arrived on scene to take over the investigation.

May 5:

Deputies were notified about the disappearance of a 1997 Jeep Cherokee in Paonia. They are trying to determine if the vehicle was stolen, or if it was simply loaned out to someone who failed to return it.

A disturbance at a Delta residence resulted in the arrest of David Booth, 51, of Delta. He is charged with second degree burglary and public indecency.

May 6:

Deputies investigated another case of a vehicle that was loaned out to an acquaintance, but not returned as promised.

A report was received about two large trees on fire on acreage on 25 Mesa Road. The fire appeared to be spreading quickly and the fire department was called out at about 8:30 p.m. It was determined the property owner had been burning earlier in the day. He thought the fire was out, but the wind picked up later that afternoon and reignited the blaze. The fire was extinguished without any damage to structures and the property owner was issued a warning about failing to call the county burn line.

May 7:

The theft of property stored on Cougar Mountain Road, Hotchkiss, was investigated by deputies. A homemade trailer, ramps to load motorcycles, a dark blue Coleman gas-powered generator, a camouflage crossbow, a military tent stove and a game dressing knife/tool set were among the items taken.

Adam Gilbert-Cory, 34, of Penrose was transported to Delta County Memorial Hospital after a motorcycle accident in the 'dobies near Trap Club and Fairview roads. The extent of his injuries is unknown; the Colorado State Patrol is handling the investigation.
