From the Delta County Sheriff's Office (partial list):
Sheriff's deputies, fire and ambulance personnel responded to a one-vehicle accident that occurred on Highway 92 just east of Delta at about 11:30 p.m. Monday night. As a Colorado State Patrol trooper made a U-turn to pull in behind the emergency vehicles, his vehicle was struck by a car traveling at an unsafe rate of speed. The trooper and two individuals involved in the original incident were all transported to DCMH in the early morning hours of Tuesday, Oct. 12. No additional information was available.
A cell phone was found at a convenience store in the unincorporated portion of Delta County. The clerk went through the messages in an attempt to identify the owner and found some information concerning possible drug activity. The sheriff's office was contacted but unfortunately could not come up with enough evidence to obtain a search warrant.
The theft of a $2,000 antique hutch was reported from a storage unit in Cory.
A 15-year-old Delta girl was reported as a runaway. She was later located at a religious facility in Delta. After consultation with the Delta Police Department and Center for Mental Health, the teen was taken to Delta County Memorial Hospital for evaluation.
Clara Sanderson, 74, of Montrose was hauling cattle in a horse trailer when the trailer began fishtailing on Highway 50 near the Delta-Mesa county line. She was unable to get the vehicle under control and her pickup rolled onto its side, although the trailer remained upright. Neither Sanderson nor the cows were injured.
A camper trailer reported stolen two days previously was located by a relative of the owner. A female had allegedly taken up residence in the camper.
