Leeanna J. Mewhinney of Eckert died Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015, at Delta County Memorial Hospital. She was 53.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 19, at Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Delta with James Conley officiating.
Mrs. Mewhinney was born in Montrose Aug. 30, 1962, to Russell Sheets and Norma Jean Ayers. She spent most of her childhood in Montrose and graduated from Montrose High School in 1980.
On Aug. 15, 1992, she married Richard Mewhinney on Grand Mesa.
Mrs. Mewhinney enjoyed gardening, art, sculpting, painting, sketching, writing, four-wheeling and spending quality time with her family.
She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Richard Mewhinney of Eckert; two sons, Nicholas Gallegos and Logan Mewhinney of Austin; a daughter, Kylee Mewhinney of Eckert; her mother, Norma Jean Connor of Montrose; two brothers, Rusty Sheets of Olathe and Daren (Jody) Boyd of Montrose; five sisters, Margaret Brady and Janece Culver, both of Montrose, Mary (Robert) English of Olathe, Rebecca Omang of Austin and Lisa (Jake) Suppes of Olathe; and extended family.
She was preceded in death by a son, Nathan Mewhinney; her father, Russell Sheets; her stepfather, Dale Connor; and a brother, Sam Connor.
