Crawford resident Lewis R. Leatherwood died Dec. 5, 2017, at his home. He was 70.
Private services will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver in spring 2018. A celebration of life will be held at that time for family and friends.
Lewis Robert Leatherwood was born Sept. 3, 1947, to Delbert and Jean (Williams) Leatherwood in Tacoma, Wash. He spent his childhood and attended school in Washington and Montana until he moved to Wyoming when he was 14. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1968 and served in Vietnam. Once he returned home, he did a carpenter's apprenticeship in 1974.
On Dec. 12, 1970, he married Kathleen
Schultz in Denver; they shared nearly 47 years of marriage.
Mr. Leatherwood was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, hunting, camping, Nascar and football.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Leatherwood of Crawford; son, Shad Leatherwood of Centennial; daughter, Sara Leatherwood of Englewood; brother, Dan Leatherwood of Cheyenne, Wyo.; and two grandchildren, Easten and Brayden Leatherwood.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Wally Leatherwood.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
