The Surface Creek Valley Lions Club is planning a special evening on Wednesday, Oct. 21, observing the one-year anniversary of the club's bingo fundraiser nights. The celebration will happen during the Bingo Night at the Civic Center, starting at 7 p.m.

The club's twice-monthly game nights have increased its ability to support community projects and causes.

"There will be free coffee and cake, several drawings for door prizes, and an opportunity to thank our players for their support," reports Lions Club president Pat Means. Since beginning bingo, the club has doubled its scholarship gifts to two $1,000 awards.

"We have designated $1,600 for donations this year to various other groups such as the Rocky Mountain Eye Bank, KidSight for eye screening, eyeglasses for individuals in need, Boy Scouts, and others, as well as the park work around the pavilion," Means notes.
