Lois Baker

Cedaredge resident Lois Baker died May 26, 2016, at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction. She was 95.

No services will be held at this time.

Lois Jane Baker was born in Derby, Kan., Oct. 1, 1920, to Raymond and Elizabeth (Deming) Palmer. She spent her childhood on a farm near Derby. After graduating from Derby High School, she attended Wichita Business College.

On Aug. 7, 1960, she married Charles Baker in Boulder. They lived in Boulder until moving to Cedaredge in 1991.

Mrs. Baker worked for Swallow Airplane Company as a spot welder from 1942 to 1945.

She enjoyed working in photography, the outdoors, hiking and making cards and pictures with dried flowers. She carried a paperback book on hikes to press flowers in.

She was a member of Rose Society in Boulder and Montrose and was involved in developing Pioneer Town in Cedaredge.

Mrs. Baker is survived by her daughter, Alice Hartmann of Winter Park; a brother, John Palmer of Colorado Springs; and one grandchild, Darby Hartman.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Baker; and a brother, Martin Palmer.
