Marion R. Drown

Delta resident, Marion R. Drown, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2018, at his home in Delta, Colo. Marion was 68 years old.

A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, March 10, 2018, at Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Delta, Colo.

Marion Robert Drown was born July 28, 1949, to Frederick and Lillian (Angus) Drown in Emmetsburg, Iowa. Marion spent his childhood and attended schools in Curlew, Iowa. He graduated from Emmetsburg High School with the Class of '67. Marion went on to further his education at Iowa Lakes Community College where he obtained an Associate's Degree in Automotive Mechanics.

On Sept. 16, 1972, Marion married the love of his life, LouAnn Smith in Minneapolis, Minn. Joshua Ryan was born in 1988 to complete their family. Marion and LouAnn moved to Delta from Minnesota in 1997. The couple had the honor of sharing 45 years of love and marriage.

Marion belonged to Grace Community Church in Delta. Marion was also an active member and enjoyed the other members of the AA Group. He enjoyed the outdoors, often spending hours walking his dog on his Delta property. He loved reading, as well as discussing history. Marion especially enjoyed being with his siblings especially fishing with his brothers. He was a favorite with his nieces and nephews.

Marion is survived by his wife, LouAnn Drown; a son, Joshua Ryan Drown; three brothers, Roger Drown (Val), Richard Drown (Lois), and James Drown (Karen); two sisters, Jean Morley (Frank) and Lorraine Malone (Paul); sister-in-law, Sheri Drown Dryden; three grandchildren; 21 nieces and nephews.

Marion was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Daniel Drown.

In lieu of flowers, plant a tree. Donations can be made to Grand Mesa Oncology Staff Education Fund, 1501 E. 3rd Street, Delta, CO 81416.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory.
