After interviewing two applicants, the Delta City Council appointed Mark Lee to the Delta Planning Commission. The commission is comprised of seven members. The position has been open for several months, so council members agreed it was exciting to see interest from citizens.
In other business at the Jan. 19 meeting, council declined to sponsor the Soil Health Conference organized by Delta County Economic Development. The city is a member of DCED and has allocated an additional $25,000 for a future economic development project. Council members did not feel the Soil Health Conference met their vision for how those funds would be spent.
City council members expressed appreciation to Glen Black, who has served as interim city manager since April. The new city manager, David Torgler, is now on the job. Black will resume his customary role of community development director for the City of Delta.
On Tuesday, Sept. 11, the Delta County Board of Commissioners called a special meeting to consider the board's response to the Bureau of Land Management's preliminary Environmental Assessment (EA) concerning the lease parcels proposed for the December BLM sale.
Several people from the North Fork were present to provide input.
