Marlene Rhodes of Paonia died Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at her daughter's home in Delta. She was 81.
A funeral service was held July 23 at Western Colorado Holiness Chapel in Delta. Interment followed at Delta City Cemetery.
Eleanor Marlene Stephens was born in Virginia Aug. 31, 1934, to Grover and Revia (Kennedy) Stephens. She spent her childhood and attended school in Virginia. When she was 17, she moved to Maryland.
On Dec. 15, 1952, she married Raymond Rhodes in Baltimore, Md. They later moved to Englewood and upon retirement, to Paonia in 1987.
Mrs. Rhodes was a member of the Western Colorado Holiness Chapel in Delta. She enjoyed shopping, especially for shoes, going to the mall, going out to eat, being on the go, cooking and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond Rhodes of Delta; three sons, David (Vicki) Rhodes of Olathe, Phillip Rhodes and Richard (Lydia) Rhodes, all of Delta; two daughters, Sharon (Daniel) Schley of Hotchkiss and Sandra January of Delta; three brothers, Phillip Stephens, Gary Craig and John Craig; three sisters, Norma Stephens, Patsy Craig and Cindy Craig, all of Maryland; nine grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

On Tuesday, Sept. 11, the Delta County Board of Commissioners called a special meeting to consider the board's response to the Bureau of Land Management's preliminary Environmental Assessment (EA) concerning the lease parcels proposed for the December BLM sale.
Several people from the North Fork were present to provide input.
