Marvin Young

Marvin C. Young died of natural causes April 19, 2016. He was 85.

He was born in Brawley, Calif., Feb. 26, 1931, to Marvin and Agnes Young. He graduated from Brawley Union High School in 1949.

Mr. Young was in the U.S. Army. He served a tour of duty in Korea in 1954.

He married Rose Stephenson June 4, 1954.

He worked as a truck driver for his father, eventually buying the Young's Trucking business.

Mr. Young enjoyed calling and teaching square dancing to people from ages 5 to 85 in the Imperial Valley and Yuma, Ariz., areas. He continued calling and teaching after moving to the San Diego area in 1984.

The Youngs traveled the United States many times as full-time RVers before retiring and moving to Eckert in 2003.

Mr. Young is survived by his wife, Rose; three children, Jacki (Henry) Koers of Mount Vernon, Mo., Michael Young of Eckert and Sharon (Rob) Dale of Cedaredge; five grandchildren, Kyle Koers of Springfield, Mo., Andrea Latinga of Fayetteville, Ark., Brianne Young and Fraizer Young of Reno, Nev., and Summer Young of Cedaredge; two great-grandchildren, Jordan and Henlee La-tinga of Fayetteville, Ark.; and a sister, Mary Ellen (Steve) Rebik of Brawley, Calif.

No services will be held. Cremation has taken place.
