Mary Finnegan died Aug. 2, 2016, on the Uncompahgre Plateau. She was 82.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Aug. 20, at 10 a.m. at Calvary Chapel in Montrose with Pastors Ben Garate and Monte Baker officiating. A private family interment has taken place at the Olathe Cemetery.
Mary Finnegan was born in Elgin, Kan., May 19, 1934, to Edmond and Verna (Martin) Wood. She grew up in Grainola, Okla., where she graduated high school. After graduation, Mary moved to Montrose.
She married John Finnegan on May 19, 1957. They moved to Olathe and then to Pea Green.
Mrs. Finnegan enjoyed spending time with her family and children. She was also a foster mother to several children. She enjoyed bowling, hiking, looking for arrowheads, walking and anything outdoors, especially trees and flowers.
She is survived by three sons, Jim (Jill) Finnegan of Montrose, Kenneth (Kathleen) Finnegan of Pea Green, and Andy (Sonia) Finnegan of Holdrege, Neb.; two brothers, Bernard (Debbie) Wood of Eckert, and Lee Wood of Pea Green; two sisters, Hilda Miller of Lehi, Utah, and Jone (Don) Wright of Grand Junction; a brother-in-law, Chuck Kelly of Grainola, Okla.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Mildred Kelly; and one son, Ed.
