The Colorado State University Extension, Tri River Area, is now accepting applications for the Master Gardener training class. The Tri River Area includes Mesa, Delta, Montrose and Ouray counties. Trainings will be held in Grand Junction on Wednesdays, for 11 weeks, starting in mid-January. Green industry professionals and public members who do not wish to volunteer can take this class outright and earn the Colorado gardening certificate. People who wish to become Master Gardeners take the class at a reduced rate in exchange for volunteering for the Tri River Area Extension.
The Master Gardener program was developed to help disperse research-based information to the public in regard to noncommercial (mainly residential) landscaping and gardening. For more information on this program, contact our Mesa County office at 244-1834 and ask for either Susan Carter or Susan Honea.
On Tuesday, Sept. 11, the Delta County Board of Commissioners called a special meeting to consider the board's response to the Bureau of Land Management's preliminary Environmental Assessment (EA) concerning the lease parcels proposed for the December BLM sale.
Several people from the North Fork were present to provide input.
