Max DeBusk

Austin resident Max DeBusk died Monday, May 2, 2016, at Delta County Memorial Hospital. He was 90.

A funeral service was held May 7 at Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Delta, with hospice chaplain Nina Gogenola, Delta Masonic Lodge #62 A.F. & A.M. and Lee Marts VFW Post #3571 officiating. Interment followed at Mesa View Cemetery in Delta.

Mr. DeBusk was born in Pearson, Ark., Nov. 12, 1925, to Floyd and Ocie DeBusk. He spent his childhood in Pearson and graduated from Pearson High School.

On May 24, 1947, he married Lurleen Sneed in Heber Springs, Ark. They had lived in Austin since 1963.

Mr. DeBusk was an operating engineer, working in construction, mainly roads and dams throughout Colorado. He enjoyed gardening, watching hummingbirds, working cattle, his cats and helping neighbors. His tractor was his pride.

He is survived by his wife, Lurleen DeBusk of Austin; his daughter, Betty (Dave) Davis of Austin; his sister, Irma Wood of Little Rock, Ark.; three grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Doug Davis.
