Cedaredge's skate park has provided a recreational venue for local youth to associate with one another and to sharpen their athletic skills.

Town maintenance personnal reported recently on a problem at the park that is suspected to have been caused by out-of-area visitors. The skate park has encountered previous problems with vandalism of the restrooms also suspected to have been caused by visitors from elsewhere. The last serious incident about a year ago has been followed recently by another one.

In a report to the town board, maintenance workers said, "Aug. 6, 7 and 8 there were some professional inline skaters at the skate park doing some skating and filming. As it turns out, the employee we had working that weekend setting up for the class reunion at Town Park went to check on the restrooms at the skate park and found them in 'disgusting conditions.'"

It took workers "over an hour and a half to clean this horrible mess. We will need to pay more attention to these kinds of activities so this type of behavior doesn't happen (again)."
