Race car driver Mianna Wick of Delta has been making her way up the ladder board for 11 years. From go-carts, to low-level cars, to piloting a 1996 IndyCar, Wick now has her sights set on making it to the Verizon IndyCar series.
"I am currently driving the IndyCar now with team Loophole Racing," she said. "We have been working for a few years now on my training program. Our goal has been to get me comfortable and up to speed in an IndyCar so when I do get an offer to drive for a Verizon IndyCar team I will be ready to hit the track."
Her crew chief, David Hoffpauir, used to work with the Andrettis and Newman Haas back in the late '80s and early '90s. This season Mianna attended a race event at the Formula One track, Circuit of the Americas.
"Making this race wouldn't have been possible financially without the support from many of my sponsors. My local sponsors went above and beyond this year in helping my dreams come true."
Sponsor Master Petroleum supplied Wick with her racing fuel this year. Kwiki Tire Service helped support the team with many batteries. Delta Cleaners stepped up this year as a new sponsor for Mianna.
"Supplying fuel for an entire season is huge," Wick said. "In the IndyCar we burn about a gallon every mile or so, therefore having my fuel taken care of is a much bigger deal than some might even realize.
"I also thoroughly appreciate having the hauling equipment reliable and working to assure that I make it to my track days. There is so much more that goes on behind the scenes to get me on track. Another thing I appreciate is showing up to the track and having clean-smelling gear. Track days are usually 90-100 degrees and when I push myself athletically in that weather with many layers of gear on, I generally come back pretty stinky. Clean gear is the best!
