Michael W. Neden died Monday, July 4, 2016, at his home in Carthage, Mo. He was 63.
Michael Wayne Neden was born in Kansas City, Mo., Aug. 21, 1952, to Frances and Margaret (Cowen) Neden. He graduated from Fort Scott Christian Heights School, Class of 1970.
He married Karren Messick on June 9, 1972, in El Dorado Springs, Mo.
He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1971-1975, including two tours in Thailand. He graduated from Pittsburg State University and received his BSED (1978) and MSED (1982). He was a technology education teacher for 37 years and was a member of several professional technology education associations. He was a technology education professor at Pittsburg State University for the past 17 years. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene and a former resident of Delta.
Survivors include his wife, Karren; two daughters, Tracy (Kristopher) Williams of Overland Park, Kan., and Casey (Stephen) Morrison of Topeka, Kan.; a son, Ryan (Lara) Neden of Carterville, Mo.; seven grandchildren; his father, Wayne Neden; three brothers, Kerry Neden, Terry Neden and Joe Neden; and a sister, Debbie Baumgartner.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Neden.
A funeral service was held July 7 at the Church of the Nazarene in Carthage. Interment followed at Fort Scott National Cemetery in Fort Scott, Kan.
