Mildred Cook died Friday, April 29, 2016, at her home in Delta. She was 97.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, May 13, at Delta City Cemetery.
Mildred A. Nelson was born in McPherson, Kan., Sept. 1, 1918, to John and Sophia (Hunsinger) Nelson. She spent her childhood in Rocky Ford and Walsenburg. The family moved to Delta in 1938.
On Sept. 16, 1940, she married Hilmont Nelson in Moab, Utah. They celebrated 43 years of marriage before he died March 29, 1983.
She married Paul Cook July 17, 1984, in Cortez.
Mrs. Cook was a member of First Baptist Church in Olathe and a 50-plus-year member of Olathe Rebekah Lodge #99.
She enjoyed her family and garden.
She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Paul Cook of Delta; three daughters, Margaret "Maggie" (Gene) Byrne of Palisade, Beverly Cox of Lander, Wyo., and Judy (John) Stratton of Grand Junction; her stepchildren, George, David, Lela and Nancy; a sister, Leona Thomas of Fence Lake, N.M.; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by 10 siblings.

At about 9:50 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, officers of the Delta Police Department were dispatched to a robbery reported at Arby's, located at 107 Gunnison River Drive. An extensive search of the area was conducted and the suspect was not located.
The suspect was reported to have walked into Arby's and after a brief conversation with an employee, was able to leave the store with a small amount of cash and coins.
