At tonight's regularly-scheduled monthly work session, the Town of Crawford will discuss the proposed mill levy increase that voters will decide on in the Nov. 8 election. Delta County assessor Debbie Griffith will be on hand to answer questions and explain how the proposed 5-mill increase will affect taxes.

An Excel spreadsheet listing all properties that will be affected and the dollar amount their taxes are expected to increase is available for viewing at Town Hall during regular hours. The spreadsheet can be downloaded from the town website, https://www.colorado.gov/crawford, under "What's New."

Trustees will also hold a public hearing on the draft budget for fiscal year 2017. A copy of the draft budget can be viewed at Town Hall during regular business hours.

The Crawford council is also in the process of finalizing comments regarding the Bureau of Land Management's Uncompahgre Field Office draft Resource Management Plan. At the Oct. 5 meeting, trustees approved the drafting of a letter protecting the town's interests, including water, sewer, recreation, schools, and its citizens. A final draft will be presented for public comment during the meeting.

The town is also seeking citizens interested in forming a Neighborhood Watch group. Interested parties can contact the town at 921-4725 or the Delta County Sheriff's Department at 874-2015
