Because of the increasing popularity of the Gunnison National Forest, new rules have been put in place by the U.S. Forest Service to minimize the direct impacts on resources.
One is to limit travel of motor vehicles to only 30 feet from designated routes along the Kebler Pass corridor for the purpose of dispersed camping.
A seasonal closure is being proposed for the corridor in 2017.
At their March 5 meeting Commissioners Doug Atchley, Mark Roeber and Don Suppes made two appointments to the county planning commission. Steve Shea was reappointed for a three-year term.
