Black Canyon Astronomical Society president Bryan Cashion will present a discussion on “Black Holes: Who Turned Out the Lights?” on Sept. 9 at 7 p.m., Partners’ meeting room, 511 E. 10th Street, Delta. Admission is free and the public is welcome.

The event will take place Sunday, Sept. 14, from 1-4 p.m. at the Delta-Montrose Technical College.

Join Partners Mentoring for a beautiful bike ride on a spectacular end-of-summer day. On Sept. 13, Partners will host the 20th annual Partners Challenge Bike Ride, offering two different breathtaking rides in western Colorado. Ride 1 begins at the top of Cerro Summit and winds along a magnificent route through national forests and river basin country over Owl Creek Pass, ending in Ridgway Town Park.

a07 bandJoin the Montrose Community Band Sunday, Sept. 28, at 3 p.m. at the Montrose Pavilion for a free concert that will take you on a tour of America. The band will play songs from several regions of the United States including Hawaii, the southern states, the northern Midwest, the plains, the Mississippi Delta region and even the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. Come learn the exciting dance moves for “Thriller,” choreographed by Gena Rose. This four-week session will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Mondays from Oct. 6-27. There will be a chance to wear your costume and perform on Oct. 31 at 4:30 p.m. This class is great for ages 7-adult. Cost for the four-week session is $10. The deadline to sign up is 4 p.m. Oct. 5.
