Officer resignation sets K9 plan back

The Cedaredge police department will be looking for a new officer next month.
Officer Nick Rogers, with the department for six months, is leaving the post, Chief Dan Sanders reported to the town trustees on July 17.

Rogers and his family are leaving this area and he is looking to enter a different career field, Sanders said.

Paonia voters to decide on retail pot stores

On July 8, the Paonia Town Council considered a resolution for a special election and two ordinances. Each dealt with retail marijuana sales.


Confluence Drive should be completed by year’s end

City manager Justin Clifton is making no guarantees, but he says he’s confident Confluence Drive, the city’s alternate truck route, will be completed this year.
“Those are pretty sweet words you just uttered,” councilmember Mary Cooper said.

“How confident are you?” councilmember Bill Raley added.
“I’m pretty confident,” Clifton responded, “but there have been enough challenges on this project I’m not making any guarantees.”
