Former Cedaredge resident Gertrude Dines died Thursday, July 24, 2014, at her home in Clifton. She was 88.
Zacharias “Zack” Emmanuel McEwen of Cedaredge died Sunday, July 27, 2014, at the VA Medical Center in Grand Junction. He was 68.
Rebecca Grosenick of Delta died Saturday, July 26, 2014, at Hospice Care Center in Grand Junction. She was 62.
Ryan Louis DaCosta of Eckert died July 6, 2014, at the University of Iowa hospital due to a brain hemorrhage and complications of lupus. He was 22.
Martha “Marty” Marie White of Delta died July 13, 2014, at San Juan Living Center. She was 64.
She was born in Denver Feb. 25, 1950, to William and Marguerite (Long) Tackett.
Mrs. White owned and operated the Hair Gallery in Cedaredge until her retirement.
She enjoyed crocheting, cross stitching and spending time with her granddaughter.
Guy L. Jones died Thursday, July 17, 2014, at his home in Delta. He was 82.
A graveside funeral service was held July 22 at Mitchell City Cemetery in Mitchell, Neb., with Rev. Gary Young officiating. The United States Marine Corps provided military funeral honors.
Mr. Jones was born in Utica, Kan., Dec. 16, 1931, to Alex and Edna (Wick) Jones. He graduated from Cedaredge High School in 1949.
Paula Marie Baril died Friday, July 11, 2014, at her home in Hotchkiss. She was 45.
A private family graveside service was held July 18 at Riverside Cemetery with hospice chaplain Nina Gogenola presiding.
Ms. Baril was born in Long Beach, Calif., April 4, 1969, to John and Carol (Berger) Baril. She attended schools in California and Colorado, graduating from Delta High School in 1990.
Mark Virdy Hollenbeck died Monday, July 21, 2014, at his home in Delta. He was 69.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 24, at Delta Christian Church with Pastor Will Pruett officiating. Interment will follow at Delta City Cemetery with Sharon Smallwood of Hopewest presing and military honors presented by Lee Marts VFW Post #3571.
Maggie Matilda “Tillie” Gehring died July 4, 2014, at her home in Redmond, Wash. She was 94.
Her parents were Leonard and Marggie Vanderhoofven. In 1934 she moved from the Oklahoma panhandle to western Colorado with her family. She graduated from Delta High School in 1937.
She married Bill Gehring in 1938. In August 1940, when Bill’s National Guard unit was mobilized, the family moved to Oklahoma, Texas
Charles “Chuck” Welborn Allyn died July 12, 2014, after a lengthy illness. He had been living in Fort Lupton with his sister, Rosalie McMillan.
He was 54.
Mr. Allyn was born in Delta Dec. 11, 1959, to Edgar “Ned” and Barbara (Taylor) Allyn. He grew up on the family ranch in Maher. Later the family moved to Paonia. He graduated from Paonia High School in 1978. He was the 145-pound wrestling state champion his senior year. He also played football and was in track.
