Jennie Sunich died Saturday, June 28, 2014, at Paonia Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was 97.

She was born in Somerset May 3, 1917, to Anton and Mary (Bole) Penko.
She married Joseph Sunich April 13, 1941, in Crested Butte.
Mrs. Sunich enjoyed her garden, cooking Slovenian meals for her family and crocheting.
She is survived by her son, Robert Sunich of Paonia; two sisters, Mary Majnik of Grand Junction and Polly McKeel of Sherwood, Ore.; three brothers, Tony (Lucille) Penko of Grand Junction, Frank (Glenna) Penko of Dixon, Calif., and John Penko of Denver; two grandchildren, Allyson Conley of Lakewood and Melany Propp of Lakewood; seven great-grandchildren, Tyler and Lane Conley, Duncan and Mason Propp and Kaitie, Brandyn and Krystie Miller and their father Ray.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe, in 1991; a granddaughter, Jenifer Miller; and a daughter-in-law, Sherry Sunich.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 5, at Taylor Funeral Home in Paonia. Interment will follow at Somerset Cemetery.
