Delta Police have issued a warrant for Roberto Nieto in connection to a shooting incident in Delta on Sunday, June 22.
The sound of gunfire shattered a quiet Sunday morning in a residential Delta neighborhood last Sunday. At approximately 6:45 a.m., officers of the Delta Police Department received a report of gunshots being heard somewhere on Grand Avenue.
Officers were dispatched to a residence in the 800 block of Grand Avenue. Two people reported they were shot at while walking in the 600 block of Grand Avenue.
The crime scene was identified and evidence was collected. Witnesses indicated three shots were fired from the passenger side window of a dark-colored passenger car. The vehicle then drove away. No injuries were reported.
DPD Chief Robert Thomas reported Monday morning the suspects’ vehicle had been found abandoned in Montrose.
On June 24 a warrant was issued for the arrest of Roberto Nieto, 30, of Delta and Montrose. Nieto is described as 5'11" tall, 200 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He wears glasses and has multiple tattoos on his arms, chest and throat. Nieto is wanted for alleged Felony Menacing, Possession of a Weapon by a Previous Offender and Reckless Endangerment, in connection with the shooting incident.
Nieto is believed to be armed and dangerous and extreme caution should be used.
