Terry Boyden, 33, of Glenwood Springs died Friday, July 11, in a one-car rollover between Hotchkiss and Paonia that also injured his daughter. She was transported to Delta County Memorial Hospital, then transferred to St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction where she had surgery.
Colorado State Patrol Trooper Darel Reed reports Boyden was southbound on Highway 133 near Farmer Frank’s when his pickup ran off the right side of the roadway, collided with a road sign, went up an embankment and rolled either 3 1/2 and 4 1/2 times. Boyden was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected during the roll sequence. His daughter was able to unhook her seat belt and crawl out of the vehicle.
Highway 133 was closed between 7:30 and 10:45 p.m. Friday evening for accident cleanup and investigation. Speed and alcohol are believed to have contributed to the accident.
Boyden was born in Delta and attended school here but had lived in Glenwood Springs for the past 10 years. He is survived by a wife and two daughters. A memorial fund has been set up for his daughters at Wells Fargo in Delta.
