Following an outstanding season in baseball, Cedaredge High School’s Trent Walker highlighted an 18-3 season by being honored as the 2014 3A WSL Player of the Year. Walker had pitching appearances in 11 games this season and posted a 6-0 record on the season.
He was in the top three for 3A WSL pitchers with 99 strikeouts and an ERA of .264.
Walker was also one of the top hitters for the Bruins, compiling a .534 batting average that included 38 RBIs, 11 doubles, six triples and two home runs. He had an on-base percentage of .604 with a .931 slugging percentage.
As an infielder (shortstop), Walker had a fielding percentage of .913.
Other Bruins selected to the 2014 all-conference team included senior Peter Williamson, a .616 hitter and second in the league in that category, senior Aaron Henrie, junior Tylor Beach and sophomore Tristan Waddell.
Troy Percival of Gunnison was this year’s Coach of the Year.
