Hotchkiss High School’s Marissa Cantrell, as announced by Mount Marty College, has signed on with the Lancer softball program for the 2014-15 season.
Cantrell is a 5-foot-2 outfielder who was a three-year letter winner in softball for Cedaredge High School.
She was named team MVP her junior year, all-conference first team her junior and senior year, and was an all-state first-team selection her senior year.
Some of Cantrell’s stats included a .388 batting average (with 67 at bats), 15 runs scored with 26 hits, eight doubles and one triple with 27 RBIs and five stolen bases.
Head MMC softball coach Albert Fernandez is pleased to sign Cantrell. “I am excited to have Marissa join our softball program next fall. She will give us some added depth in the outfield and is a great fit with our team and the Mount Marty College community.”
Cantrell is the daugher of Sean and Belinda Cantrell of Hotchkiss. She will be a pre-professional major at MMC.
In addition to her softball award, Cantrell will also be receiving an academic achievement scholarship from Mount Marty.
