Barker Rinker Seacat Architecture of Delta has been selected to develop a master plan for the expansion of Bill Heddles Recreation Center. The expansion will be funded in part by the 3/4 percent sales tax which voters extended in April 2008.
Wilma Erven, director of culture and recreation for the City of Delta, said 11 bids were received. After review, four firms were chosen to be interviewed. Barker Rinker Seacat Architecture submitted the low bid of $30,690, and is well qualified to do the job, Erven said. The firm has experience designing recreation centers, schools and community centers.
The master plan process will begin immediately and is expected to be completed by mid-July. The plan will focus on four areas of the facility - aquatics, conference room/kitchen, cardio/weight rooms and racquetball area - and include an estimated budget for each phase of the project.
