James LeValley (left) and Tristen Todd won second place for their bacon cheeseburger.
The Black Mesa Cattlewomen sponsored the event and donated the beef for the competition. Cattlewoman Pauline Carr is the instructor of the class which teaches cooking skills and nutrition. Cattlewoman Chandra Carr was a volunteer assisting during the cook-off. Cattlewomen Mary Pipher and Velma Holder, as well as Lois Kelley, Crawford School cook, judged the entries on taste, appearance and table setting. The boys also took a written test which was figured into their total score.
