Hotchkiss Marshal Dan Miller reports over 100 incidents have happened in the first 14 days of August. Marshal Miller and his officers have been very busy. Four booths at the Delta County Fairgrounds were broken into and items stolen. Two juvenile suspects have been charged. The merchandise stolen was recovered. Another burglary during fair week took place at Hotchkiss Meats. The marshal is confident the case will be solved. Two alleged sexual assaults at the fairgrounds during fair week, one with an adult and the second with a juvenile, are currently under investigation. The juvenile assault case is being investigated by the Delta County Sheriff's Office. Last Saturday night, a stolen car from Main Street was found wrecked on J 80 Road just outside of town limits. The marshal's office has made arrests on four warrants this month. At the beginning of fair week, the department handled a traffic case of alleged driving under the influence of drugs. In addition to the driver's charge, four passengers were charged with allegedly using and possessing marijuana. Suspects have been charged in a couple of assaults which happened since the beginning of August. These assaults involved fighting. The marshal's office heard that two drivers got into a fight after the Demolition Derby, but no one came forward to say they had been assaulted. Marshal Miller reports there have been 105 incidents between Aug. 1-14, which is a high number.
