Happy trails
School district staff, former school board members, retired school employees and community members gathered at the district office in Read last Tuesday to bid farewell to retiring superintendent Mike McMillan. McMillan had been a teacher, principal and administrator in Delta County since1971. His sudden departure has been attributed to “philosophical differences” with the current school board. His resignation came as a surprise for many district employees. The reception outside the district office was equally surprising, as McMillan had planned a quiet exit. He graciously shook hands or exchanged hugs with all those gathered.
