Once referred to as “one of country’s best kept secrets,” Chuck Pyle, the “Zen Cowboy,” is returning to Cedaredge for a live performance at the AppleShed, on Saturday. Feb. 28, starting at 7 p.m.
An accomplished guitarist/songwriter, Pyle is probably best known among Coloradans for writing the aesthetically pleasing song, “Colorado” — the theme song for the PBS series “Spirit of Colorado.” According to his bio, “Pyle has won high praise from both fans and peers alike throughout an inspired performance career of over 40 years, writing songs of love lost and found, forgetful cowboys, heroic highway patrolmen, and brain stems gone critical.” His original compositions have been recorded by John Denver, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Chris LeDoux, Jerry Jeff Walker and Suzy Bogguss.

Since writing “Colorado,”  Pyle has become somewhat of a local celebrity among music buffs, and even performed for the opening session of the Colorado State Legislature.

A prolific recording artist with 10 CDs to his credit so far, Pyle also performs at various festivals, theaters, coffeehouses and house concerts across the country.

Tickets for the Feb. 28 performance are $15 in advance, and are on sale at Starr’s Guitars in Cedaredge, or $17.50 at the door, the night of the performance.

For more information, call Starr’s Guitars at, 856-2331.
