On May 2, Delta City Council amended the City of Delta's Cemetery Regulations. The amendment is to better clarify the existing regulations regarding Section 9.1.7 Landscaping and Maintenance. The amendment states "... A. No lots may be improved, landscaped, maintained or decorated by any person other than a City of Delta employee except allowed in this section." The remainder of the Section 9.1.7 provides direction as to when and how lots in the cemetery can be decorated by friends and family. The regulations are in place to ensure the ability for all families to remember their loved one as well as the ability for the maintenance crew at the cemetery to continue to maintain the cemetery grounds. The City of Delta would like to remind everyone that no trees or shrubs are to be pruned by anyone except city staff.
Beginning on Monday, June 19, all decorations not allowed in these regulations will be removed. The amended regulations are available at the city clerk's office at city hall during normal business hours as well as on the city's website at www.cityofdelta.net under the documents tab.
At their March 5 meeting Commissioners Doug Atchley, Mark Roeber and Don Suppes made two appointments to the county planning commission. Steve Shea was reappointed for a three-year term.
