Norman E. Kroschel died Jan. 11, 2017, at Delta County Memorial Hospital. He was 85.
He was born in Del Norte Jan. 7, 1932, to Edwin and Thelma (Mosher) Kroschel. He spent his childhood and attended school in Del Norte. After high school, he enlisted and served in the U.S. Air Force. He was honorably discharged.
On Sept. 12, 1954, he married Wilma Beardslee in Montrose. Shortly after, he reenlisted in the Air Force. They were stationed in Texas, Germany and South Dakota. He retired after 21 years.
Mr. Kroschel was a lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion. He was a quartermaster for the Boy Scouts of America. He was also a member of the Delta Elks.
He enjoyed spending time with family, hunting, fishing and camping with his sons.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma; sons, Steven (Tari) Kroschel of South Jordan, Utah, Alan (Wan) Kroschel of Bangkok, and Barry (Carrie) Kroschel of Leadville; brothers, Delbert Kroschel of Montrose and Howard Lilly of Montrose; half-siblings, Curtis Kroschel of Canada, Raymond Kroschel of Del Norte, Kenneth Kroschel of Longmont, Dale Kroschel of Pueblo, Judy Kroshel-McCabe of Canada, Rella Kroschel-Jones of Pueblo and Timothy Kroschel of Del Norte; seven grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Jerry Kroschel.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 21, at 11 a.m. at Crippin Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Paul Nystrom officiating. A graveside service with military honors will follow at Grand View Cemetery, west of Montrose.
