Olathe FFA Chapter

Olathe FFA has been busy this year with many community service projects and competitions. In October, the floriculture team traveled to Indianapolis, Ind., as the Colorado representative for the National FFA Convention and to compete against 50 other teams from around the country. Olathe ended up with a silver rating and had two students win bronze (Tiffany Stotz and Jennifer Mort), one student win silver (Elaina Rowley) and one student earn a gold (Sydney Murray).

We also had a livestock judging team compete at the Western National Roundup contest at the National Western Stock Show in Denver in January. The team from Olathe placed 10th overall and Justin Mosher placed sixth overall individually.

Olathe FFA will be working with the local elementary school to teach Ag in the Classroom and also do a safety day for Olathe Middle School. Olathe FFA has worked with the Uncompahgre Valley Water Users Association by serving at its annual banquet and will also help the Uncompahgre Cattlemen's Association by serving at its banquet March 4.

Olathe FFA will have multiple teams competing in judging contests this year including livestock, meats, ag mechanics and horse. We will host our own awards banquet March 31 at Olathe High School.
